We start every service with a detailed property evaluation. Our licensed technicians inspect both the interior and exterior of your property, identifying where pests are active, where they may be entering, and what conditions are contributing to the problem. Identifying an Aphid Problem on Your Property

Aphids are small, soft-bodied insects, typically between one-sixteenth and one-eighth of an inch long, and they come in a range of colors: yellow, orange, red, green, brown, blue-green, and white. They tend to cluster on new growth, the undersides of leaves, and tender stems, which is why infestations can build up before they’re obvious.

The signs they leave behind are often more visible than the insects themselves:

Sticky honeydew residue on leaves and on surfaces beneath infested plants
Sooty mold, a black fungal growth that develops on honeydew and can block sunlight from reaching leaves

In Houston landscapes, aphids commonly target jasmine, hibiscus, hydrangea, roses, vegetable gardens, and oak trees. Aphids don’t bite people or pets and pose no health risk to humans; their damage is limited entirely to plant health.

In colder climates, aphid activity slows significantly through winter. Houston’s mild temperatures don’t offer that seasonal reset. Aphids are most active during spring and fall when plants are pushing new growth, but they can remain active through much of the year here.

Ants feed on the honeydew aphids produce and will actively protect aphid colonies from natural predators, including lady beetles and lacewings.
